Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,107-bed Florida Hospital Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. Florida Hospital Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. Mon – Fri / 6a – 2:30p
Actively participates in outstanding customer service, and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. The EKG 2 independently performs diagnostic quality ECGs, SAECG, and Holter monitor hook-ups. Must recognize and alert appropriate personnel to lethal arrhythmias and unstable hemodynamics. Processes Holter data and assists with physician billing and staff scheduling. Assists in the Stress lab where campus scheduling allows. Demonstrates scheduling flexibility and is compliant with special requests as situations dictate. A four week notice is required for resignations, transfer, and any change in employment status resulting in decreased working hours.
Ability to read and write legibly and perform basic mathematical functions
Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of diverse backgrounds
Computer knowledge and skills
Experience performing ECGs in a hospital setting
High School diploma or General Education diploma (preferred)
Experience with Philips and/or Mortara ECG machines (preferred)
Experience with Cerner Electronic Medical Records (preferred)
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate

Quality: Performs diagnostic electrocardiograms, positions and applies electrodes in proper location, identifies and corrects for wandering, interference, and artifact, appropriately applies Holter Monitors, and obtains all necessary information for proper interpretation.
Effective and Efficient Care: Independently performs diagnostic ECG testing, manages unmatched list in a timely manner, responds appropriately and in a timely manner to all patient orders, manages time and equipment effectively, and maintains patient confidentiality as required by HIPPA.
Assessment: Identifies patients using by using the 2 FH acceptable identifiers, name and date of birth, communicates abnormal findings to the nurse and or physician in a timely manner, and ensures that an order or a prescription is present for the EKG and or Holter Monitor.
Documentation: Accurately documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department expectations. Enters all patient demographic information accurately, and downloads, edits and faxes Holter Monitor information in a timely manner. Assists as needed with various office responsibilities including physician billing, responding to phone inquiries and fax requests.
Safety: Follows isolation guidelines, appropriately uses PPE, and performs hand washing according to FH policy. Cleans equipment according to FH policies and procedures.
Communication: Communicates with patients and their family members according to their age and understanding. Explains procedures in a way that the receiver can understand. Completes all assignments and communicates pending items with the appropriate staff member. Openly receives instructions and guidance from fellow staff, supervisors and managers.
Process Improvement: Provides suggestions to improve department and hospital processes and participates in process improvement projects.
Professional Growth: Provides goals on employee input form that lead to growth opportunities. Assists with clinical instructions and serves as a resource to less experienced employees and new personnel. Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
Stress Testing: Assists with scheduling, room preparation, turn-around, and supply restocking. Transfers and attends to patients within department and obtains patient history and completes stress lab flow sheet. Prior to the start of stress test, notifies nurse and/or physician of patient history information with potential to impact exam. Prior to cardiac stress testing, obtains baseline ECG and blood pressure.
