Regional West Health Services in Scottsbluff, Nebraska includes Regional West Medical Center, a 188-bed regional referral center and one of Nebraska's three level II Trauma Centers, and other hospitals and health system affiliates, including a residential care facility and an insurance company. The trauma program includes Air Link air ambulance services, which is fully accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS). As a key component in a regional emergency medical system, Regional West supports emergency helicopter ambulance service throughout the region. The emergency department is the only one in the Nebraska panhandle staffed by board-certified physicians 24 hours a day.
As the region’s only tertiary referral medical center, Regional West offers care that spans more than 32 medical specialties provided by over 28 physician clinics. Intensive care services range from a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to an eight-bed Coronary Care unit affiliated with the University Of Colorado Hospital. In partnership with HealthONE’s Swedish Medical Center in Denver, Colo., Regional West offers the only stroke telemedicine program and the most advanced stroke care in the region.
The Radiology department is second to none in the state of Nebraska. Staffed by an experienced group of board-certified radiologists and home to a two-year School of Radiologic Technology, the department provides the latest diagnostic imaging services including fixed-site Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Computerized Axial Tomography, angiography, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine. Both the mammography and computed tomography (CT) programs are accredited by the American College of Radiology.
Regional West’s cancer services is the only cancer program in Nebraska, and one of a limited number of U.S. hospitals, to receive four consecutive Outstanding Achievement Awards from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. In addition, Patients in western Nebraska have increased access to the region’s most advanced cancer care, thanks to a partnership between Regional West and University of Colorado (CU) Cancer Center in collaboration with UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital (UCH).

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of RWHS, the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the financial, productivity, quality of service, and human resource management of all assigned areas. He/she develops organization-wide patient care programs, policies, and procedures that describe how patient care needs are assessed, evaluated and measured.
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree (or higher) in Nursing, Business or Health Care Administration. He/she will have clinical nursing and management experience with a minimum of five years gained through increasingly responsible related management positions which include serving key leadership roles. Ideal experience would be in a complex, sizable community teaching hospital, academic medical center or an integrated delivery system.
