Freestanding Emergency Department
Wellington Regional Medical Center will soon be opening their new Freestanding Emergency Department located in the city of Westlake, Florida. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new $12 million dollar Emergency Department was held on May 24th, 2018 with plans to begin seeing patients in February 2019. The Freestanding Emergency Department sits on 5.6 acres and is nearly 11,000-square-feet in size. Services provided will be a reflection of the same services currently provided at our main Wellington Regional Medical Center Emergency Department in Wellington, FL. Services will range from those minor bumps, bruises, and colds, as well as, patients requiring higher level care such as stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure, respiratory failure, cardiopulmonary arrest, and emergency pediatric care. It will be expected that Paramedics are flexible in meeting the staffing needs at both facilities to best care for our patients.
Paramedic - Freestanding Emergency Department
The Freestanding Emergency Department Paramedic is equipped with the knowledge and skills to collaborate with the Registered Nurses & Emergency Department Providers to facilitate and deliver a high level of competent care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions and emergencies. The Paramedic is responsible for routine patient care, under the supervision of an RN, cleaning/stocking, and performs additional duties as requested. The Freestanding Emergency Department is equipped with the staff and capabilities to see patients throughout the lifespan & Wellington Regional Medical Center prides itself on maintaining the highest standards of care along with evidence based practices necessary to exceed when it comes to patient expectations. Wellington Regional Medical Center is a Comprehensive Stroke Center, Chest Pain & Resuscitation accredited, and cares for large number of highly acute patients using the most cutting edge approaches in their delivery of care. Paramedics will be expected to float between the main campus Emergency Department and the Freestanding Emergency Department in Westlake on an as needed basis to ensure staffing appropriateness and patient needs.
