Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Public Health Representative III for the Department of Pediatrics at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
This position provides pre and post HIV test counseling in various settings including the Emergency Department using the New Jersey Department of Health HIV Testing Standards.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
Provides risk reduction education to all clients and encourages repeat testing based on client risk assessment.
Prepares and submits monthly data reports.
Attends New Jersey State trainings, as needed.
Perform quality controls per NJ state guidelines.
Orders and organizes HIV testing supplies and equipment, as needed.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field plus one (1) year community based social service experience.
Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Willingness to travel to outside locations using own vehicle, if requested.
Three years of community based social service experience.
HIV Counselor certification (if applicable, HIV Counselor refresher within the past five (5) years).
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Demands: Job requires standing on feet multiple hours at a time, walking within the hospital complex, navigating stairs, elevators, etc. Ability to safely operate motor vehicle.
