There is a growing focus on international research and development in the department of Emergency Medicine especially in the low and low-middle income countries. The growing portfolio includes hospital based surveillance, community preparedness, capacity building and use of technology for emergency care. We are looking for an individual with research and management skills and commitment to the development of emergency care in low resource settings. Reporting directly to the faculty, the Sr. Research Program Coordinator will focus on specific implementation of current projects and supporting new grants.
Specific duties & responsibilities:
Coordination and Communication with Johns Hopkins: The candidate will be expected to ensure smooth operations of the research enterprise. The coordination will require communication within the department of Emergency medicine (such as departmental finance, HR), with other entities at JHU (IRB, partners in other departments and other schools) and externally (funding agencies and research partners). The candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth running of the projects on the deadline. He/She will have weekly program management meetings with the PI/Faculty and provide with necessary update as agreed between the two.
Compliance: Maintain IRB protocols and maintain compliance.
Budget and finance: Liaise with the Grants & Contracts /Financial Analyst who manages the budget and financial management of program.
Support Grant Writing: The candidate will support the grant writing process through literature search, writing and revisions of the grant applications;
Data Management: Responsible for maintaining the databases, checking the quality of data received from the field, appropriate feedback to field teams on the quality of data, compliance with data integrity and privacy policies of JHU;
Field Supervision: Ensure that the data collection procedures are implemented as defined in the protocol and quality of data is maintained through ongoing communication and coordination with the local partners;
Establish administrative systems and operational plan for implementation and monitoring of project;
Instrument development: Develop content for project by designing qualitative research tools, including Modified Delphi process for gathering information for tool creation to measure emergency preparedness in four cities;
Data Analysis and Report Writing: The candidate will work with the PI on data analysis, report writing and in manuscript writing. Specifically, the candidate with assist with qualitative data analysis as part of Modified Delphi Process
Bachelor's degree in related discipline and three years of related experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
