The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital (BBCH) at Maine Medical Center is currently seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Critical Care physician to join a 6 member group. Candidates must be a pediatric cardiac intensivist or have extensive experience in both the perioperative management of the congenital heart patient and the medical management of the pediatric cardiac patient. The selected pediatric cardiac intensivist will also provide care for PICU patients in a multidisciplinary PICU, and work in collaboration with our pediatric surgeons, cardiologists and critical care intensivists. The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, a 96-bed hospital within Maine Medical Center, is the tertiary medical center for children serving the state of Maine and southern and eastern New Hampshire. The Children’s Hospital medical staff represents all the pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties that provide comprehensive services for children, including trauma care, surgery for congenital heart disease and renal transplantation. The critical care division also supports and supervises a 24/7 pediatric transport team.
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit has 8 beds with 400+ admissions per year. Critical care physician responsibilities include direct supervision and education of residents in pediatrics, medicine-pediatrics and emergency medicine during their pediatric critical care rotation. Interest or participation in research, patient safety and quality initiatives is encouraged but not mandatory. Multiple administrative and leadership opportunities exist within the Departments of Pediatrics and Critical Care for qualified individuals.
Maine Medical Center (MMC) has 637 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary care hospital and Level One Trauma Center, with a full complement of Residencies and Fellowships and an integral part of Tufts University Medical School. Academic rank at Tufts University will be granted commensurate with experience.
