FACULTY POSITION: The University of New Mexico, Department of Emergency Medicine, Division of Prehospital, Austere and Disaster Medicine is seeking a full time physician faculty member. In addition to supporting our EM residency program and providing clinical care in both our academic and community hospital facilities, this faculty member will join 8 other board-certified EMS physicians to support and advance a thriving EMS medical direction and field response program, an EMS fellowship with three fellows annually, a vibrant EMS education academy, the International Mountain Medicine Center and the Center for Rural and Tribal EMS. We also have opportunities in air medical transport, tactical EMS, wilderness medicine and rescue, event medicine, and research.
The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is also the single tertiary care facility and Level 1 Trauma Center for the state. In addition, our facility has the only pediatric emergency department in New Mexico.
Our Department of Emergency Medicine has 65 full-time and part-time attending physicians, and is also home to an outstanding EM Residency, EMS Academy and Center for Disaster Medicine. Minimum requirements: The successful candidate will be board certified or board prepared in Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Medicine with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience which may include residency and fellowship. The applicant must have a State of New Mexico license and Federal DEA Certification at time of hire.
Preference will be given to candidates with strong clinical skills in EMS Medical Direction and Emergency Medicine. Candidates should have experience in teaching and a strong interest in clinical or administrative leadership.
