Patient care and professional responsibilities: (10%)
Serve as a resource and assist in the development and delivery of innovative collaborative practice pharmaceutical care services at practice site (1 in General Internal Medicine and 1 in Ambulatory care).
Patient care activities: develop collaborative care practices with practice site
Provide preceptor development for other health care professionals and serve as liaison between the university and the clinic site.
Coordination and supervision of Introductory and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE/APPE) students: (50%)
Maintain an exemplary general medicine pharmacy practice site for APPE education.
Work with the site physicians, clinical pharmacists, and others to provide consultative pharmacotherapy services for pharmacy students completing a general medicine or Ambulatory Care Advance Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE).
Precept a maximum of 12 fourth-year pharmacy (P-4) students for APPEs (clerkships) annually.
Precept 15 second/third-year IPPE students annually
Serve as a site coordinator and assist staff pharmacy preceptors in the orientation for Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) and other APPE students assigned to the site.
Provide written/oral evaluation of student progress for general medicine IPPE/APPE students as established for course requirements.
Develop APPE Elective Rotations (e.g. Infectious Disease, Critical Care, Behavioral Health etc.)
Provide didactic teaching to PharmD and related health profession discipline: (20%)
Provide teaching in the didactic curriculum, including case studies facilitation.
Two 8 week sections of PHAR 9906/07/08 – (3 hours per week)
Other lectures on other pharmacotherapy related topics in the professional Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum (6-12 didactic lectures/recitation per year).
Academic member of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Admin. Sci. (20%)
Serve as a role model practitioner/educator in the didactic and experiential components of the PharmD program
Serve on assigned University, College, and Departmental committees commensurate with a non-tenure track, clinical faculty position
Develop and maintain an active scholarship program, commensurate with a non-tenure track, clinical faculty position.
Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
Chair, ISU Department of Pharmacy Practice & Director, Pharmacy Dept.
Pharm.D. degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
Ability to be licensed as a registered pharmacist in Alaska
Minimum of one year of residency or specialty residency or equivalent experience
Evidence of effective teaching
Evidence clinical scholarship
PGY1 in pharmacy practice discipline with preference given to candidates with general medicine, critical care, or ambulatory care experience
Work experience in general medicine, critical care, or ambulatory care – (note private sector experience favored)
Experience teaching in a College of Pharmacy
Experiential teaching experience
