The department has a strong academic presence within the UCF COM consortium, with a track record of research and didactic presentations at national SAEM and ACEP meetings. There is a dedicated research infrastructure, including a biostatistician, and several data analysts, as well as personal support for manuscript preparation and submission to academic journals. The educational program is innovative and cutting edge, with a state of the art simulation center and a robust ultrasonography program. Summer of 2019 will welcome two EM fellowship programs, in Clinical Research and Ultrasonography. Both programs are supported by EVPS and have protected grant funding. The department also has a strong EMS presence with active research programs in pediatric cardiac arrest, stroke, and sepsis.
The compensation package is very attractive and includes a generous stipend for academic duties, with protected time in addition to a competitive clinical rate.
