Florida Hospital Tampa is a 536-bed tertiary care hospital for the West Florida Division of the Adventist Health System, soon to be AdventHealth, and is specialized in Digestive Health, Cardiovascular Medicine, Neuroscience, Orthopedics, Women’s Services, Pediatrics, Oncology, Endocrinology, Bariatrics, Wound Healing, Sleep Medicine and General Surgery, including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures. Also, located at Florida Hospital Tampa is the renowned Florida Hospital Pepin Heart Institute, a recognized leader in cardiovascular disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and leading-edge research. We are expanding our pharmacy through increased clinical pharmacy services, decentralized pharmacist presence, advanced pharmacy specialists, and technology utilization. In addition, we serve as a practice site for some of the University of South Florida College of Pharmacy faculty.
This PGY-1 program provides a comprehensive exposure to clinical and administrative components of hospital pharmacy practice in a tertiary care hospital. This residency allows for flexibility to fulfill the special needs and interests of each resident with the goal of providing a broad-based hospital pharmacy practice experience. We strive to provide the experience and learning opportunities to allow residents completing the program to continue into additional training programs, academia or clinical practice.
We are accepting applications for 2 PGY-1 resident positions via PhORCAS until January 4, 2019, and require a letter of intent, curriculum vitae and 3 letters of recommendation utilizing the PhORCAS template as well as transcripts from all universities attended. Applicants must participate in the National Matching Services process, have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, be eligible for Florida licensure (with licensure process completed by end of August).
About Florida Hospital Tampa (soon to be AdventHealth)
The Adventist Health System mission is to extend the healing ministry of Christ with a holistic approach towards healing the patient—mind, body and spirit. Florida Hospital Tampa, soon to be AdventHealth, has a commitment to improving the quality of life of our patients, family, friends and neighbors through inpatient and outpatient care, community health education, medical education, and promotion of medical and scientific research when appropriate. Within the Department of Pharmacy, we strive to provide safe and evidence-based medication therapy for all patients and recognize that patient care is more than just providing medications—but is a way to make a difference by positively impacting our patient’s and his/her caregiver’s experience.
