Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD offers three PGY1 Pharmacy Residency positions. Our program offers a variety of experiences in diverse areas with guidance from a dedicated team of preceptors, many of which are residency trained and board certified. Residents are mentored throughout the year and grow personally and professionally. Residents provide patient care through required learning experiences in Adult Critical Care, Adult Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Inpatient Anticoagulation and Medication Safety. Elective rotations include Nutrition, Nephrology/Transplant, Emergency Medicine, Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Neonatology, Ambulatory Anticoagulation Services and Pharmacogenetics. Residents provide decentralized clinical pharmacy services every third weekend. Each resident completes a year-long residency project and a Teaching Certificate Program. Residents are routinely involved in the delivery of medication-related education to patients and other healthcare disciplines.
All residency candidates must meet the following prerequisites:
• Earned a PharmD degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy
• Hold an active pharmacy license, or be `eligible for licensure in South Dakota
