The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Medical Center is currently searching for a clinical pharmacy specialist to join our inpatient surgical team. The preferred candidate will be highly motivated, residency trained and/or have equivalent experience in this adult acute medicine patient population.
Located in Little Rock, Arkansas, UAMS is the state's only academic health sciences center. We are the state's only Level 1 Trauma Center and recently became the first and only health care provider in Arkansas to be certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. Job description: The clinical pharmacy specialist for surgery will provide pharmaceutical care to patients in inpatient surgery services. This may include active participation on patient care rounds, review of patient profiles, and provision of pharmacokinetics and nutrition support. The pharmacist reviews and interprets medication orders and drug profiles to ensure appropriate drug therapy has been prescribed and ensures that drug interactions are considered. The surgery pharmacy team potentially covers trauma, emergency general, vascular, colorectal, oncology, plastics, urology, otolaryngology, and orthopedic surgery service lines. The surgery pharmacist will have the opportunity to precept pharmacy students and residents and contribute to protocol development and scholarly projects.
Required Qualifications: Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy or BS Pharmacy Degree Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice as a pharmacist in the state of Arkansas Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-1 residency and/or previous clinical experience in adult acute medicine
Preferred Qualifications: Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY2 Residency in Critical Care or Emergency Medicine is preferred Board certification is preferred
