The PGY2 Internal Medicine Pharmacy Residency Program is currently recruiting for it's third resident. The emphasis of this program is to develop pharmacists with expertise in internal medicine pharmacotherapy. Graduates of our PGY2 program will be prepared to practice as Clinical Specialists in Internal Medicine and serve as preceptors for residents and students.
Residents will have the opportunity to continue to build clinical and leadership skills, and to assist in precepting both students and PGY1 residents. Residents will progress through a series of customized focused learning experiences in addition to longitudinal learning experiences during the 12-month period.

Internal Medicine I-IV
Medical Critical Care
Family Medicine Inpatient Service
Longitudinal Ambulatory Care
Transitions of Care
Service commitment (every 3rd weekend)
Medication Use/Drug Information
Professional Presentations/Teaching Certificate

Please ensure that completed and anticipated PGY-1 residency rotations are included
A minimum of three (3) references submitted through PhORCAS
All must be able to speak to clinical skills developed during direct patient care experiences and comment on at least 75% of the available comment fields within PhORCAS.
Inclusion of PGY-1 Residency Program Director as a reference is strongly encouraged

About the Pharmacy Department:
The Department of Pharmacy at CRMH is comprised of approximately 70 pharmacists and 70 technicians. We utilize a mix of decentralized clinical staff and specialists to provide pharmaceutical care for patient populations ranging from Level 1 trauma to neonatal critical care.
In addition to our personnel, we utilize multiple technologies to deliver care, including PyxisMedstations, centralized carousels, computerized prescriber order entry, electronic medical records and bedside barcode scanning. Approximately 30 percent of our pharmacists are adjunct or associate professors for regional schools of pharmacy and medicine.

The pharmacy residency programs conducted at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia have a strong commitment to the education and professional development of pharmacists. For the 2019-20992019 residency class, we will offer six positions in our Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency program, two positions in our Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Critical Care program, two positions in our PGY2 Infectious Diseases program, and one position in our PGY2 Internal Medicine Program.
All of our programs are fully accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) with the exception of the PGY2 Internal Medicine program, which is in pre-candidate status at this time.
