A flexible, comprehensive program designed to develop a resident's advanced clinical care skills. Required rotations include Cardiology/CCU, Infectious diseases, Internal medicine, Medical ICU, and Drug information (longitudinal). Electives include: Administration, Ambulatory Care, Anticoagulation Clinic, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Geriatrics, Neonatal ICU/Pediatrics, Nephrology, Pain Management, Surgical ICU, and Transitions of Care. Residents receive an academic appointment to the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy and participate in instruction of pharmacy students at the College. There are also internal teaching/mentoring opportunities onsite with P3 and P4 students. Successful graduates of this residency have gone on to pursue careers in all areas of pharmacy practice such as clinical patient care, academia, industry, PGY2 training, and even medical school.
