Palmetto Health Children's Hospital is the first freestanding children's hospital in South Carolina, with more than 30 pediatric subspecialties. We are a major regional academic pediatric medicine referral center, caring for more than 150,000 visits each year.
We partner with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, the largest department within the medical school, which is committed on creating an outstanding teaching environment. This learning environment has produced pass rates on the American Board of Pediatrics certifying examination that are consistently ranked in the top ten percent. We not only serve as a major hub for medical students, nursing students, and physician assistant students, but also pharmacy students from the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy.
The PGY2 Pediatric Specialty Pharmacy Residency at Palmetto Health Children's Hospital is a unique program that tailors its design every year, depending on the current resident’s prior pediatric knowledge/experiences and specific pediatric specialty interests. Whether our residents have limited pediatric experiences or are PGY1 graduates from another children’s hospital, our goal is the same: we aim to ensure that our graduates maximize their pediatric experiences and education in order to become specialists in pediatric clinical pharmacy.
