PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center (PHSHMC) offers a Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) residency program with rotations at both the Springfield and Eugene campuses. Training experiences are individualized based on existing resident competencies and personal interests. Core rotations include critical care, antimicrobial stewardship, cardiology, emergency medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and administration; with elective opportunities in behavioral health, informatics, and OR. The resident will participate in the pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, formulary management, and quality improvement projects.
The purpose of a PGY1 pharmacy residency program is to build on the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
Sacred Heart Medical Center is a not-for-profit, Catholic health care facility serving the Eugene-Springfield area as part of Peacehealth. Decentralized clinical pharmacists have a presence on all patient care floors including the Emergency Department and the OR. Pharmacists participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds.
Residents must graduate from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy and be eligible for Oregon pharmacist licensure by residency start date. PhORCAS application required documents include curriculum vitae, personal statement, 3 references, and academic transcripts.
