The Clinical Pharmacist I will be joining a small but mighty night shift team, comprised of one other pharmacist and two pharmacy techs. Together, the team serves a busy Academic Level I Trauma Center and Emergency Department. The Clinical Pharmacist I provides pharmaceutical care according to standards established by Scripps Health Pharmacy, to assigned group of patients. Reviews and evaluates individual drug orders for appropriateness, safety, and cost. Documents the care provided to patients. Supervises the drug distribution operation: responsible for assuring safe and effective alternatives as appropriate. Routinely communicates with physicians, nurses and patients regarding drug therapy. Contributes to the accomplishment of initiatives to improve the cost-effectiveness of drug therapy. Demonstrates ability to provide age-specific patient care as established for area and job title. Works variable shifts, including evenings and weekends as staffing needs require. Demonstrates ability to perform competencies and perform activities as outlined in Pharmacist Authorities policy. Primarily operation focused centrally based; participates in direct patient care as clinical competencies are approved and on approved shifts. The pharmacist department is also engaged in Pharmacy Resident Teaching for both PGY1 programs and PGy2 in Critical Care and Psychiatry. Additionally we take over 30 P4 pharmacy students annually.
This is a full time position with night shifts, generally 7:30pm-6:15am, Wednesday through Tuesday. The Clinical Pharmacist I will enjoy the flexibility in working 7 days on and 7 days off.
BS Pharmacy (with 10 years of experience) or Pharm.D. Degree
California Pharmacist License
AHA BLS for the health care provider
PGY1 residency- Accredited
Inpatient Hospital pharmacy practice and Clinical pharmacy practice experience

About Scripps Mercy Hospital - San Diego
Scripps Mercy Hospital is a 700 bed Acute Care Hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center. It is also a STEMI receiving center and a Certified Stroke Center with an active Cath Lab and Emergency Department. As an academic institution, clinical pharmacists practice in 11 clinical settings in addition to an oncology infusion center. We annually train over 30 PharmD students and 70 medical and family practice interns and residents. The pharmacy residency for PGY1 program started in 2002 and has had three cycles of full 6-yr accreditation. We started our PGY2 programs in July of 2017 and are currently in candidate status. This will be our third year of PGY2 Residents.
