ThisPhysician Assistant - Gynecologywill be responsible for:
Providing comprehensive healthcare services for the Gynecology Program including outpatient, inpatient, surgical and emergency patients.
Ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests to assist in making the appropriate diagnosis in outpatient, pre-op, surgery, post op, and inpatient settings.
Triaging beeper calls and identifying patients that require gynecologic consultation with referring pediatricians, in- patient hospital staff, Emergency room staff, specialists, or other healthcare professionals.
Assessing patients in urgent and elective ambulatory outpatient gynecologic assessment and providing care under the guidance of the attending physician, with the level of independence based on the level of experience.
Documenting patient assessment, history, physical, diagnoses and care plan.
Preparing patients for surgical procedures.
Scrubbing as First or second assistant to the surgeon in the operating room for elective and emergency operations.
Writing Brief Operative and Operative Notes after procedures.
Suturing wounds and performing incision closures in the OR after a procedure is completed.
Managing transfer of patients from the OR to the Recovery Room by providing detailed post-op orders and communicating with Recovery Room attending physicians and staff.
Performing post-operative care such as teaching the use of vaginal dilators, removing sutures/staples, removing drains and tubes.
Performing minor surgical procedures (such as IUD placement, superficial laceration repair, removal of foreign body) depending on level of experience.
Executing emergency gynecologic care as directed by the supervising physician in the OR/ICU/floor/ER.
Writing discharge summaries and care plans in progress notes/medical record and provides appropriate correspondence with referring physician.
To qualify, you must have :
A Master's from a PA program.
3+ years' experience in women's health, adult gynecology, pediatrics, surgery or emergency medicine.
The ability to work in collaboration with physicians, nurses, mid-level providers, OR and ambulatory staff.
The analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experience-based knowledge.
Excellent communication skills.
Well-developed writing skills.
A current MA license to practice as a Physician Assistant.
