The College of Pharmacy at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science invites applications for a full-time Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency (PGY-2) position within the Department of Pharmacy Practice. This position will be a one-year training opportunity, to develop clinical knowledge and skills in the area of Emergency Medicine (EM). The primary clinical training site is Northwestern Memorial Hospital, an academic medical center in downtown Chicago. The PGY2 EM residency at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science and Northwestern Memorial Hospital provides residents with challenging learning experiences, training in multiple care environments and exposure to diverse patient populations. The Northwestern Memorial Hospital Emergency Department, an affiliate of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, is a Level 1 Trauma and Stroke center located in downtown Chicago. The high-volume, high-complexity ED populations at this tertiary care center allow for a challenging and rewarding learning environment. In addition to clinical practice experiences, the PGY2 EM will have the opportunity to engage in academic activities, which include IPPE/APPE/PGY1 precepting as well as didactic and simulation-based instruction. The resident will also conduct research projects and engage in leadership development. Core rotations include: adult emergency medicine, pediatric intensive care, critical care (Medical ICU), toxicology, and academia. Elective rotations are tailored to the resident's areas of interest and may include: infectious diseases, global health, internal medicine, Cardiac ICU, Surgical ICU and Neuroscience-Spine ICU. After completing this residency, graduates are equipped to be fully integrated members of the interdisciplinary emergency medicine team and are qualified to take on formal academic appointments.
In addition to clinical practice experiences, the PGY2 EM resident will have the opportunity to engage in academic activities, which include IPPE/APPE precepting, scholarly activity, as well as didactic and simulation-based instruction at the University.
Graduate from an ACPE-Accredited College of Pharmacy (or in process of pursuing accreditation) or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP)
Doctor of Pharmacy degree
BS Pharmacy degree with demonstrated equivalent experience to a PharmD degree (e.g. 3+ years of practice post-graduation with clinical focus and demonstrated commitment to clinical practice) may be considered
Successful completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency prior to the start of the PGY2 residency year
Licensed or eligible for licensure in Illinois
