As a member of the Southeastern Regional Medical Center emergency department multidisciplinary team, the resident will work alongside emergency medicine physicians and medical residents to enhance their problem solving skills and professional judgment necessary to optimize drug therapy outcomes. The majority of the experience will occur in the 45 bed emergency department with an average of 68,000 patient visits/year. Other opportunities include, medical and neonatal intensive care, toxicology, medical resident education and precepting. Our purpose is to provide advanced practice skills to produce more proficient, confident and evidence based driven pharmacy clinicians in the emergency department setting.
Applicants must be a graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited degree program (or one in the process of pursuing accreditation) or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). Applicants must be participating in, or have completed, an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 pharmacy residency program or one in the ASHP accreditation process. Applicants must be licensed in the state of North Carolina prior to or within 90 days of the start date of the residency. Residents must be an active member of the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) and North Carolina Association of Pharmacists (NCAP), after beginning the residency program.
