The PGY-2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center is a diverse program dedicated to developing highly-skilled emergency medicine pharmacy clinicians. This program emphasizes the multi-disciplinary management of the emergency medicine patients, enhancing existing emergency medicine pharmacy services, and developing and supporting services across the entire OhioHealth health system.
During fiscal year 2018, the emergency department at Grant Medical Center had over 75,000 visits and 31.8% of patients were admitted. Over 7,300 of those visits to the emergency department were trauma patients and 88% of that population was admitted. Additionally, a total of 894 category 1 trauma alerts were activated. Residents will participate in direct emergent patient care experiences including cardiac arrest, trauma response, stroke alerts, STEMI, sepsis alerts, airway emergencies, and operative emergencies. The resident will gain experience related to emergency medicine such as: disaster preparedness, critical care, pediatrics, trauma, and toxicology. Offsite learning opportunities include pediatric emergency medicine, poison control center, comprehensive stroke center experience, and neurologic intensive care.
