Emergency Medicine Physicians/Medical Education Scholars

The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine, Section of Emergency Medicine, seeks Medical Education Scholars for a two year term. The successful candidates will receive training in medical education and leadership as Emergency Medicine Medical Education Scholars. These positions offer protected time for professional development while working clinically as an attending in our emergency department at partial effort. The University of Chicago Medicine is an Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, a receiving hospital for STEMI, a Comprehensive Stroke Center, a Burn Center, and a Chicago South EMS regional resource hospital. The Adult ED has an annual volume of 70,000 and our Pediatric ED cares for 30,000 patients per year. Scholars will work closely with administrations for both our EM residency program and our medical clerkships. The scholars can expect experience in the following: 1) teaching methodologies and evaluation, 2) curriculum design and assessment, 3) scholarship in medical education, and 4) medical school clerkship and residency program administration. Appointment would be as full-time Clinical Associate but with activities described above.Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, and 3) be Board certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine.
