The Clinical Research Coordinator will recruit and assist with recruiting study participants for Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Hospital Medicine research studies at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. Send initial communication and follow up messages to patients and participants by email, phone, and post. Administer standardized computerized questionnaires to research subjects. Appropriately respond to questions from study participants, and obtain informed consent for research participation.
Manage data and prepare and maintain research participant files. Maintain recruitment logs and provide reports, as needed. Assist in scheduling participants and tracking gift cards given to participants. Assist with equipment maintenance, creation of recruitment materials, ordering supplies, and other administrative tasks related to the study as needed. Perform quality control on patient files.
Theoretical knowledge in a life science or related discipline; or equivalent education and experience.
Ability to complete large volumes of phone calls; accurately share technical information via phone; and have resilience and tenacity over rejection.
Familiarity with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) to ensure confidentiality, privacy and security of patient information.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with study participants, researchers and non-researchers.
Strong skill in writing concise and understandable documentation of procedures.
Ability to work with online calendars, databases and tracking tools, both on a desktop computer and tablet.
Demonstrated experience with electronic data management, including spreadsheets.
Demonstrated experience with EPIC and RedCAP database systems.
Ability to work professionally and as part of a team, keeping track of any ongoing or new problems or requests.
Ability to interact effectively with individuals across the range of ethnicity, cultures, socioeconomic conditions, academic and professional backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, and other personal factors, both inside and outside the organization.

Must have access to reliable transportation and a valid CA driver's license.
