The PGY1 pharmacy residency program at Bethesda North (a TriHealth hospital)l builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. Required rotations include Orientation, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Cardiology, Medical Oncology and Medical/Surgical. Electives include Antimicrobial Advisory Team, Psychiatric Neurologic Medicine, Drug Policy Development/Quality and Formulary Management, Palliative Care and Post Cardiovascular Surgical Care. Other electives may be taken into consideration depending on the resident's learning goals and the site's ability to provide a qualified rotation. Additionally as a longitudinal experience, residents participate in the University of Cincinnati Teaching Certificate Program and mentor IPPE/APPE students at Bethesda North. Residents are required to complete a research project for presentation at national and regional conferences.
