Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton is a 255-bed, full-service hospital that has served North Texas and southern Oklahoma since 1987. Hospital services include heart and vascular care, women's services, a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, orthopedics and sports medicine, pain management, emergency medicine, and a weight loss surgery program. The Center for Women at Texas Health Denton has an exciting opportunity for a Nursing Supervisor in the Labor & Delivery and Women's & Infants Services departments.
11-bed LDR 2 OR suites for C-sections 2-bed recovery rooms
Averaging between 200-225 deliveries per month
20-beds for Postpartum/Newborn/couplet care 6-bed Antepartum. OB/ED with 4 bays OB Hospitalist 24/7 10-bed Level III Neonatal ICU currently - expanding to 16-bed private rooms in January 2019 Texas 10-step program Baby friendly designation On Magnet journey
Associate's Degree in Nursing - Graduate of an accredited Nursing program Required Bachelor's Degree Nursing is preferred - Nursing Supervisors hired within THR after April 1, 2017 require completion of a BSN within 2 years of start date
2 Years' experience as a clinical nurse (RN) with previous experience as a charge nurse or similar leadership role (i.e. Charge nurse, committee chair, preceptor) Required
Labor & Delivery RN experience
RN - Registered Nurse to practice in the statue of Texas Upon Hire Required BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support (through American Heart Association) Upon Hire Required NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program Required within 90 days of hire if not current ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Required within 6 months of hire if not current IFM - Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Required within 12 months of hire if not current STABLE Program Upon Hire Preferred – will obtain after hire if not current
CPI (non-violent crisis intervention) certification within 6 months of hire
A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN is strongly preferred): Must obtain BSN within 2 years from date of hire. Prefer 3-5 years RN experience in Labor & Delivery RN-C certification in OB is preferred. Experience with fast paced environment Administrative duties to include scheduling and evaluations
Possesses organizational skills to direct and manage care on a nursing unit for an individual shift. Basic computer skills - use EPIC/Care Connect computerized charting; Microsoft Suite with Word and Excel for reports Very good verbal and written communication skills. Critical thinking skills. Strong leadership background and experience required Leadership experience as a Charge RN (Charge capable RN)
The Supervisor role will involve Charge RN responsibilities, office hours and develop into the supervisor role under the guidance of the Nurse Manager. Assist with audits, time and attendance, coaching, attend some meetings, evaluations Facilitates patient nurse assignments and provides coordination of patient care on nursing unit Serves as a role model/mentor for Registered Nurses in the areas of professional development, professional practice, and continuing education. Coordinates the scheduling of staff for unit or designated shift. Provides continuous constructive feedback and annual performance evaluations to staff. Participates in coaching and counseling, Progressive Disciplinary action process with Nurse Manager/Director and staff. Assists in providing staff meetings with Nurse Manager and facilitates during meetings as appropriate. Identifies ineffective, inefficient or costly processes and takes action to improve those processes. Participates in monitoring the budget as directed by Nurse Manager/Director. Assists Nurse Manager/Director with recruiting and interviewing potential staff. Supports retention strategies and objectives. Promotes Promise behaviors. Assists Nurse Manager with creating Employee Development Plan. Seeks opportunities for self-development in leadership. Manages bed control for unit in collaboration with Administrative Supervisor. Integrates team building strategies and principles of group process in interactions with staff. Contributes to creating and maintaining a collaborative work environment. Completes daily assignments addressing patient acuity levels, staffing standards and scope, function and competence level of staff members. Contributes to employee development plan identifying and addressing areas of needed growth. Recognizes staff for and encourages them to seek professional development opportunities as needed including CAP and Certification Complies with hospital policies and the Nurse Practice Act
Full-time: 40 hours/week, on night shift - flexible with hours to include weekly office time and some day time meetings. Hands on patient care as well; Nursing Supervisor in charge nurse role, hours variable, 6:45PM-7:15AM

Nursing Supervisor Salary Range: $36.48 - $55.53/hour, commensurate with working experience
