The College of Social Science at Michigan State University seeks a full-time Academic Specialist to become the Director of Assessment and Student Success.
Position duties will include:
Providing leadership across the College, and especially in the Center for Integrative Studies, in data analytics for undergraduate curriculum assessment, in the design of undergraduate curriculum revisions, and in the design and implementation of student success initiatives. Duties also include identifying, initiating, overseeing, and serving as a liaison with the Office of the Associate Provost of Undergraduate Education (APUE) and other counterparts across campus; organizing and overseeing current student sucess initiatives including Help Rooms and Study Sessions, Summer Bridge Programs, Common Intellectual Experiences, and Emerging Scholars; managing first-year seminar courses.
Applicants must hold a minimum of a Master's degree in a field relevant either to the social sciences or to student affairs and at least two years of experience in either academic advising or assessment of programs and curriculum, or related experiences. Applicants must have expertise in basic statistics, database management, and data analysis and manipulation (using SPSS, SAS, or STATA).
Ph.D. strongly preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals from diverse social , economic, and cultural backgrounds are essential, as is the ability to collaborate with faculty, advisors, and colleagues.
