About the PGY1 Program
Our residency program designed to develop residents’ clinical knowledge through exposure to a variety of practice settings. We offer two positions each year and create a program that corresponds with our residents’ specific needs and interests. Our decentralized pharmacy consists of 60 employees, including 20 pharmacists, while our clinical pharmacy services consist of three clinical pharmacy specialists, two PGY-1 pharmacy residents and decentralized clinical pharmacy staff. The clinical pharmacy services focus on internal medicine, critical care and ambulatory care. All pharmacists provide pharmacokinetic services and are responsible for the education of patients and nursing staff, and pharmacy staff train students during their introductory and advanced practice experiences. We utilize the latest advances in technology, such as electronic health records (EHRs) and computerized physician order entry (CPOE), to deliver optimum patient care.
Repeat of any required rotation
Our program provides multiple opportunities for residents to teach and perform research in the pharmacy field. In addition to participating in Pharm.D. candidate experiential training, residents are required to take part in the Resident Education Academy through St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Upon successful completion of this program, residents receive a teaching certificate.
