The Software Engineer is a member of the Department of Radiation Oncology and Molecular Radiation Sciences IT team and participates in software, web, and database development that are integrated with Department applications. The successful candidate for this position must be detailed oriented and be able to work in a demanding and dynamic team environment as well as work independently.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Collecting and analyzing user requirements, designing and building data and function flows, incorporating content management systems, generating reports using database stored procedures and views to include participating in programming and scripting work. The job also includes implementing information systems and databases as well as participating in the formulation of training documents, procedures, and policies as they relate to Information Technology applications in the Department.
Will act as Project Lead and provide guidance/oversight to less experienced personnel. Must translate business requirements into functional/technical specifications. Install and package programs. Deploy applications to Windows IIS Serer. May act as Project Coordinator outside the department. Will have complete system life cycle responsibilities. Individual must be detailed oriented and will interact with various staff members to ascertain IT initiatives or imperatives.
Individual must be thoroughly familiar with the industry Model-View-Controller methodology using RESTful concepts. Traverse Active Directory to validate user access. Administer database access. Work with Linked Servers. Additional responsibilities include maintaining existing Visual Basic and C# .NET ancillary applications as needed. Provide Help Desk backup as required.
Participate in the deployment of Web-based software applications, related information search and retrieval systems and databases. Participate in application, database, and software development and maintenance work and provide training and trouble-shooting services to users or other groups. Design, implement and tune application database schemes for Departmental applications.
Act as a resource person to provide technical training and guidance to Department staff members and application users. Examine and evaluate relevant emerging technologies for ways to improve the Department's productivity. Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Computer or Information Science, or related technical fields required. Minimum of five years related experience required. Additional experience can substitute for education. Additional education can substitute for experience.
