Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee is proud to launch a new pharmacy residency program with the first class starting in July 2019.
Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee is a community teaching hospital located in Milwaukee just north of downtown. The Lake Drive Campus is made up of two hospitals, the Main Hospital and Women’s Hospital, and two large clinics, Prospect Medical Commons and Water Tower Medical Commons. Average daily inpatient census is ~225 patients. The facility offers advanced cardiovascular and neurological surgery services, a regional burn center, women’s health services, a neonatal intensive care unit, 48 adult intensive care unit beds, 130 medical/surgical beds. an inpatient behavioral health unit, an inpatient rehabilitation unit, and a 45-bed emergency department. Additionally, an outpatient chemotherapy infusion center is part of the campus. Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee serves as the tertiary care referral center for seven southeastern Wisconsin Ascension hospitals. As a result, the area’s most complex medical and surgical cases come to Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee for care.
Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s aims to develop residents into capable pharmacy clinicians who are prepared to enter an advanced acute care practice environment. Through a variety of rotation experiences, projects, and activities, residents will develop successful time management and communication skills. Graduates will be resourceful, compassionate, and competent members of the healthcare team who demonstrate a commitment to the patient and profession.
Required rotations include: Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Pharmacy Administration, Academia, Research, and Staffing.
Elective opportunities include: Oncology, Ambulatory Care, Medication Safety, NICU & Women’s Health, Pharmacy Informatics, Critical Care II, and Health-System Administration.
