Our PGY1 Pharmacy Residency is a 12-month program offered at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, located in the near western suburbs of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area. We offer 2 positions each year, starting July 1.
We participate in the ASHP National Matching Service, with applications through PHORCAS. The due date for applications for the 2019-2020 year is Tuesday January 8, 2019.

We are a member of the HealthPartners integrated health care system, including 7 hospitals and more than 50 clinics in the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin.
Park Nicollet Health Services, includes Methodist Hospital, Park Nicollet (multi-specialty) Clinic, Foundation and Institute, 26 metro and suburban area clinic locations, including: TRIA Orthopedic Center, Melrose Institute (Eating Disorders), Frauenshuh Cancer Center, and the International Diabetes Center.
Special Areas: Cancer Center, OR pharmacy, EC, Home Infusion/Hospice, Anti-Coagulation.
Rotations: Internal Medicine/General Surgery, Cardiology, Oncology, Orthopedics, Neurology, ICU, Emergency Medicine, IP operations (Central pharmacy, IV, Anti-coagulation, TPN, Kinetics), Admin/Practice Management, AmCare, Family Medicine Rounding Service, ID, Nutrition Support (TPN)/Home Infusion/Hospice.
Projects and example activities: Med Use/Safety, P&T, Monographs, Longitudinal residency project, new- or expand existing services. Teaching/Presentations: IPPE, APPE precepting (Acute Care, Nutrition Support), Staff / In- service CE, presentations, Lecture(s) for U of MN College of Pharmacy; Community wellness/high school (career) presentation(s). ACLS training.
Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital, a 426 bed facility, is recognized as an area leader in cancer care, cardiovascular services, maternity care and neuro-rehabilitation medicine. Specialized pharmacy services include emergency department/medication reconciliation, anti-coagulation, nutrition support, home infusion/hospice, ambulatory infusion, and the cancer center. We are a teaching site for the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy. The Twin Cities metropolitan area is well-represented in arts, entertainment, and culinary offerings, as well as parks, lakes, sporting, and four season outdoor recreational opportunities.

About Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital Pharmacy PGY1 Residency
Our PGY1 program offers a range of clinical and practice experiences including acute care Medical/Surgical and ICU services, Oncology, Orthopedics, Cardiology, Emergency Department / Med Rec, Anticoagulation, Nutrition Support, Ambulatory Care, Home Infusion / Hospice, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Family Medicine Hospital Rounding Service, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Pharmacy operations, and staffing. Residents are also involved in clinical precepting, staff development activities, and the opportunity for didactic presentations for the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy.
Our goal is to train, mentor and develop competent practitioners able to deliver high quality patient-centered care in a variety of hospital settings, provide leadership to the profession, and be role models for those who follow.
ASHP Accredited PGY1 Program Purpose: [Our] PGY1 pharmacy residency program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
