Provide leadership and accountability in the daily operations of assigned departments. Responsible for developing and maintaining physician relations, empowering clinical care givers through solicitation of input, and implementation of actions to improve delivery of patient care. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the provision of services in the assigned departments. Participates in and/or supervises the delivery of patient care, as necessary, and has the responsibility for establishing standard nursing practice for the service. Assures achievement of department goals and takes an active role in achievement of hospital Assures adherence to hospital policies and standards set forth by accreditation and regulatory agencies.

Minimum Education Requirements
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master's Degree in health care or business related field OR a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN).
Minimum Experience Requirements
Five years of clinical experience in an emergency and/or critical care department.
Two years management experience.
Current Colorado RN License required.
National Certification, preferred

Accountable for preparing, monitoring, and managing the operational and capital budgets. Understands how to strengthen the units through good financial planning and implementation. *

Facilitates performance improvement teams to improve processes throughout the department. Responsible for formulating, interpreting, implementing, evaluating and supporting standards of care, objectives, policies and procedures. *
Work with clinical system teams to evaluate and implement technologies that enhance patient care and nursing practice (EB guidelines, Zynx, MedAI, TSI, etc.).*
Attends continuing education sessions related to leadership of assigned departments and/or changing regulations. *
Provides a climate, which fosters professional development. Promotes and supports major corporate initiatives. *
Participates in committee work related to quality assurance, performance improvement and regulatory compliance. *
Maintains currency in knowledge of current clinical evidence through implementation and evaluation of clinical guidelines and through fostering research opportunities. *
Assists in development of disease management programs that will improve the health of the community. Collaborates within triad to design specific key performance indicators and to achieve financial performance objectives of the service through managing operating and capital budgets, managing patient utilization, and implementing cost-management strategies. *
Monitor relationships between nursing practice and outcome costs.*
Recruits, selects and hires effective people for the unit staff. Identifies and fills gaps in unit skills and knowledge. Effectively markets unit job openings to attract highly skilled staff members. *
Through effective coaching and mentoring, assists people in developing their careers; ensures they are prepared to assume additional responsibility. Prevents voluntary departures by maintaining a hands-on approach to developing people and a unit environment that encourages retention of staff. *
Facilitates staff competency by identifying, measuring and evaluating desired performance and holding staff accountable. Facilitates the constructive resolution of conflict. Uses techniques that appeal to reason, values, and emotions to generate enthusiasm for work, commitment to task objectives, and compliance with requests.*
Identifies the best methods for accomplishing long and short- term goals by creating plans and evaluating unit performance objectively. *
Participates in the Trauma Quality Improvement/Peer Review Plan in cooperation with the surgical Director of Trauma Services, Trauma Program and Quality Leadership. Oversees data collection on all applicable trauma patients. *
Works with the EMS Medical Director and/or Emergency Medical Director to establish protocols of care for sponsored EMS agencies. Works with the triad to develop strategic initiatives and goals and objectives for the service with accompanying market strategies. *
Gain physician support for strategic and financial planning.*
