The PGY 1 residency at Hillcrest Hospital South is designed to build on the traditional PharmD education program to foster the development of competent independent clinical pharmacists able to provide patient-centered pharmaceutical care in an acute care setting. Our residents prepare for a role as a clinical pharmacist providing direct patient care or a specialty PGY2 by developing strong leadership skills, excellent interdisciplinary communication, and the independence to operate within a wide variety of clinical and pharmacy settings.
The mission of the Department of Pharmacy at Hillcrest Hospital South is to deliver save and compassionate care for our patients in an atmosphere of mutual respect, individual accountability and social responsibility, and serves as the basis for our practice and education philosophy.
Services and rotations include internal medicine, cardiology, critical care, infectious diseases, and several elective opportunities. The residents will be expected to make formal presentations to medical and/or nursing staff through in-services, as well as a major project to be completed for the year. The facility is a training site for pharmacy students, providing opportunities for the residents to interact with and teach students.
