The PGY1 Pharmacy residency program at Carolinas Healthcare System Northeast* offers residents a diverse experience. The practice setting is an acute care environment. The purpose of PGY1 pharmacy residency programs is to build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
The focus of this program is to prepare generalist pharmacist clinicians for direct patient care positions in the hospital setting. A healthcare system training environment provides the framework for preparing pharmacists who will provide patient-centered medication therapy management across the health care continuum including transitions of care.
The pharmacy department at CHS NE delivers patient-centered, medication-related care throughout the organization with diverse, decentralized inpatient services including OR/Surgical services, pediatrics, infectious diseases, critical care, neurology, cardiology, internal medicine, oncology, and emergency medicine.
