Responsible for facility-wide infection prevention and control program. This role will direct others within the entity towards process improvements that support the reduction of healthcare acquired infections. Provides leadership for development and implementation of a entity-wide infection prevention and control plan, leads the activities of the Infection Prevention and Control Committee, educates other practitioners on the system-based causes for infections, consults with management and staff, develops and implements evidence-based programs that support effective infection prevention and control strategies. Responsible for integrating the infection prevention and control program into all applicable organization components/functions by way of consultation, participation at meetings, and the establishment of effective communication and reporting systems with hospital leaders and associates.
Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent education or experience
Degree in Nursing or other clinical related field, preferred
MSN, MPH or other related Master's degree, preferred
Minimum Experience Requirements:
Five (5) years of clinical or related experience
Three (3) years of infection prevention and control, preferred
Two (2) years of previous leadership or project management experience, preferred
Experience in clinical operations and/or experience working in performance improvement or quality management areas, preferred
Knowledge in epidemiological principles, infectious diseases, and sterilization, sanitation and disinfection practices.
Experience using databases and spreadsheets.
Proven education and facilitation skills; ability to educate and motivate physician leaders and organizational managers and to effectively facilitate improvement projects, process redesign and infection control and prevention workshops.
Demonstrates exceptional analytical skills, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Current Certification in Infection Control (CIC), preferred. Must obtain within six months of eligibility as defined by the Certified Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC).
