Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Collaboration Engineer for the OIT – Telecommunications Unit. The Collaboration Engineer designs, installs, configures, manages and troubleshoots Unified Communications and Collaboration architectures. The individual works closely with other members of the Engineering staff. The Collaboration Engineer will also participate in Pre-Installation customer facing Unified Communications activities when necessary, including planning and design meetings with customers, creating Bills of Material, writing Statements of Work and supporting the OIT and Rutgers partners. The job responsibilities will vary based on the project scope and deliverables but will range from unified communications design to the implementation and deployment of voice, contact center, and video technologies. The Collaboration Engineering role focuses on Cisco Voice/UC & Collaboration solutions and requires the ability to implement solutions effectively and efficiently.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Implements and supports Unified Communications solutions for clients based on industry best practices
Provides design and engineering activities for projects that have a moderate to high complexity and scope.
Analyzes information, assesses situations and makes judgments and decisions in situations of moderate to high complexity and impact.
Complies with all established installation, repair, documentation and ticketing procedures and controls and seeks approval for deviation.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor's of Science degree in Information Technology or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
A minimum of least five (5) years of related IP telephony implementation experience .
Must work towards achieving the following certifications:
CCNP-Voice or Collaboration
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be willing to travel, when necessary, to sites throughout New Jersey for business demands.
Must have excellent customer facing skills, with the ability to articulate Cisco Collaboration/Unified systems and advanced knowledge in voice and VoIP telecommunications
Requires the ability to be a self-starter and to act as the Technical Lead on both small and large projects and focus on quality work, balanced with achieving results within acceptable timeframes.
Ability to thrive in a challenging, fast-paced environment and work both independently and as part of a team necessary.
Must be fluent in using the Microsoft Office Suite and Visio.
Must be able to assist and effectively communicate with individuals across the organization.
Solid understanding of current Operating Systems
Possesses a high degree of system level troubleshooting
Experience in collaboration system engineering and design, delivery and installation
Hands-on knowledge of Cisco Collaboration technologies and their application.
Cisco Routers and Switches, Gateways/CUBEs and Gatekeepers
Unified Communications/Cisco Voice experience related to Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Unity/Unity Connection Voice Mail, IM & Presence and Unified Contact Center Enterprise/Express.
Knowledge of Quality of Service (QoS) related to IP Telephony / Video
Knowledge of legacy PBX technologies
Demonstrated knowledge of voice and VoIP installation and maintenance techniques.
CCNP Voice and CCNP Route/Switch or equivalent experience strongly preferred
CCNP-Voice or Collaboration
Must be able to use Fluke network testers and telephone testing equipment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to operate a service van.
Must be able to lift heavy items of 60 lbs. or more.
Must be able to climb a 6 foot ladder.
