The Harvard Business School's Business History Initiative (BHI) is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated individual to serve as Coordinator. BHI promotes, encourages, and facilitates historical research and teaching among HBS faculty and, externally, to build upon the school's established position as a global leader in the field. It seeks to enable scholars, educators, and practitioners to better understand the modern business world by studying its past. Areas of faculty focus include the history of innovation, government policy, green business, emerging markets, and the origins of global capitalism. Reporting to the Manager of the Business History Initiative, this position supports a cross-section of the Initiative's core activities. Major areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:
Maintains and updates BHI's web and social media presence, for both the Initiative and a related faculty research project, including Creating Emerging Markets.
Promote BHI activities, including conferences, seminars, progress on research projects, and publications.
Manages event planning such as faculty lunch seminars, receptions, etc. Handle logistics such as publicity and marketing, interdepartmental communication, room scheduling, media services, catering, marketing, and vendor management.
Provides general administrative coordination including establishing BHI business processes, maintaining departmental records, scheduling meetings, processing invoices and reimbursement processing, tracking expenses, managing department mailings, ordering supplies, etc.
Coordinates and prepares electronic communication to key constituents.
Serves as principal administrative contact and liaison for internal and external department or program constituencies
Please note: This is a half-time, benefits-eligible term appointment through June 30, 2019 with potential for reappointment.

2+ years of related administrative experience, preferably in an academic environment.
BA/BS preferred. Interest in History or related field strongly encouraged. Excellent organizational skills with particular ability to prioritize work in an environment with multiple and conflicting interests. This position requires a self-starter with excellent project management, communication (both written and oral), and interpersonal skills. Ability to think creatively and work well while juggling multiple projects within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. He/she should have excellent organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various internal and external constituencies. Proficiency with basic office software and ability to work with online content-management platforms.
