Schedule: As Needed
Responsible for the registration of all patients into the Patient Care system. Includes extensive clerical, cashier, transport of patients, and telephone tasks related to this process. Public relation skills are essential to this position. Variable work hours including some weekend and holidays.
Minimum Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Experience Requirements
6 months in a medical setting preferred.
Job Responsibilities (essential functions identified with a * )
Consistently registers patients at a accuracy rate of 95% or better.
Obtains accurate Physician information including correct attending physician and review of suspension list for all admissions.
Measured through the department quality insurance program.
Registers patients in timely manner. Measured by the Coordinator, through the department QA Program.
Obtains required forms and signatures for patient medical records. Includes the proper explanation of forms to patients.
Copy of insurance cards-front and back- and obtains on line verification when appropriate.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of medical insurance and the financial responsibility of the patients.
Protects patient confidentiality both with in and outside the department with out exception,
Meets the expectations of the department regarding attendance and availability for work.
Prepares accurate receipts and logs entries for all financial transactions.
Acts as cashier for patients co-payments at time of service and consistently maintains and accurate record of such transactions.
Assures cash is secure during the shift to which is assigned.
Complies with organization policy and procedures regarding the collection of fees for service. Includes the collection of deposits, co-payments and deductible amounts from patients.
Answers telephone, greets patients, visitors, and staff of other departments in a cordial, professional and timely manner.
Takes initiative to answer questions, to research information, provide answers to questions, and otherwise provide service to our "customers".
Attends mandatory department/staff meetings as scheduled and arrives on time.
Offers to assist management and office staff or to except additional assignments as requested.
Willingly participates in the orientation, training, and development of new employees in a positive manner.
Makes an effort to be positive in supporting a work environment, which is conducive to productivity, strong moral, and teamwork. (attitude)
Meets conditions of employment as stated in the employee principals and complies with organization policy and procedures.
Consistently meets departmental standards regarding appearance as stated in the departmental/ hospital dress code.
Limits the number of incoming and outgoing personal phone calls with in the department.
Understands and uses established grievance protocol, including the proper chain of command, with exceptions.
Adheres to hospital policy regarding time allocation for breaks and meals.
Complies with departmental ergonomic standards which includes proper work station setup.
Sedentary work -(prolonged periods of sitting and exert up to 10lbs force occasionally)
