Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing quality and quantity of work,procedures, personnel, and costs for the Point of Care Laboratory. Formulate goals, assign objectives, establishstandards of practice, and ensuring continuity of services.Supervises and ensures the proper performance of all techniquesand procedures associated with Point of Care in both the laboratory and clinical areas.
Validation of new testing inthe laboratory. Works with the lab director and administrativedirector to develop new tests as needed in the laboratory.
Reports/Documentation - Works in conjunction with theDirector to prepare reports andoversee all departmental documentation.
Time utilization/Behavioral Standards -Acts appropriately in prioritizing andcoordinating responsibilities and duties toensure smooth operation of the laboratory.Cooperates and communicates effectivelywith staff and directors.
Planning and Budgeting/Cost Containment:Participates in cost control activities byseeking the most effective method ofdelivering quality services, and maintainsan awareness of the cost impact of decisions and actions.
Procedure Development and Quality Control -Develops and implements laboratoryoperating policies and procedures(including quality control standards), with ongoing development/modification of the laboratory's quality control program andrequirements for regulatory agencies.Maintains relevant records consistent withregulatory standards.
Staff Development, Evaluation, Counselingand Personnel related activities - Oversees supervision of the entire staff. Interviews perspective employees, evaluates and documents staff performance and performs personnel counseling. Recognizes and identifies staff needs and develops programs to meet needs.
Management of staff - Assigns responsibilities, establishes work hours,monitors staffing and approves necessary,overtime.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Medical Technology or Science or a related field. Minimum of seven years in a clinical laboratory with supervisory/management responsibilities and knowledgeable in all areas of Chemistry.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:ASCP certification. 7-10 years supervisory experience.Knowledge of NYS and CAP regulatory requirements in regard to Point of Care Testing. Familiarity with instrument interfacesand functionality of RALS middleware.
