Witt/Kieffer has been retained by Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston, MA to assist in the recruitment of a new Senior Vice President of Human Resources. MGH, established in 1811 to provide care to Boston's sick regardless of socioeconomic status, is the third oldest general hospital in the United States and the largest in New England. MGH is the original teaching hospital for Harvard University’s medical school and almost all of their physicians are faculty members. MGH is comprised of 1,011 beds and admits approximately 50,000 patients annually with nearly 1.5 million outpatient visits and over 100,000 emergency room visits. They have remained at the forefront of medicine by fostering a culture of collaboration, pushing the boundaries of medical research, educating the brightest medical minds and maintaining an unwavering commitment to the diverse community they serve. In March 1994, MGH and Brigham and Women’s Hospital joined to form Partners HealthCare System, Inc. This affiliation of the two entities was established to create an integrated healthcare delivery system which provides excellent, cost-effective care. Partners HealthCare System, Inc. has grown to include North Shore Medical Center, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and Faulkner Hospital.
MGH is seeking a talented, energetic, smart human resources executive to make a significant mark at one of the world’s premier health care institutions as an integral member of the leadership team. The Senior Vice President of Human Resources (SVP of HR) is responsible for planning, directing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating all elements of the Human Resources function across MGH. The SVP of HR will be focused on working directly with senior leaders and people across the institution in order to quickly build credibility and trust throughout the organization, and championing its culture in order for it to provide exemplary, streamlined and cost-effective patient-care services to the communities it serves. The position has a matrixed reporting structure, with relationships to the MGH President, Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO) Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Human Resources Officer of Partners HealthCare System.
The ideal candidate will be a contemporary human resources executive with experience in all phases of human resource management. We seek an innovative, progressive thinker who values people as assets and is highly skilled at developing comprehensive compensation and benefits plans, as well as leadership development programs. The next SVP will embrace service excellence and be committed to progressive human resources practices. This is a relational based leadership role and the SVP of HR must develop and maintain effective working relationships with MGH and MGPO Senior Executives, as well as the HR leaders at MGH affiliates. This human resources executive will also play a leadership role within the Partners Human Resources team leveraging their expertise to impact Partners across a multitude of human capital initiatives, as well as work collaboratively with Partners colleagues to implement efficiencies and improve service across the all of Partners’ entities.
