Offering an exceptional leadership opportunity, Carilion Clinic and the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology of Carilion Children’s in Roanoke, Virginia are seeking a new Chief of the Division to lead a team of 4 Gastroenterologists in a clinic-based, academic program with remarkable opportunities in teaching, research, and clinical pediatric gastroenterology. Based in the Level One 703-bed Trauma and Academic Center Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital which serves over one million people in western Virginia, our full-service 92-bed Children's Hospital provides universal care and intensive care to neonatal, pediatric and adolescent patients. It also has the second largest neonatal intensive care unit in Virginia and the only pediatric intensive care unit and dedicated pediatric unit in southwest Virginia. Carilion Children’s includes an 8-bed PICU, a 24-bed inpatient unit and a 60-bed NICU/intermediate nursing unit.

We are looking for a dynamic, growth-focused pediatric gastroenterology leader of excellent clinical experience, proven academic interest, and great vision and creativity. Our program provides comprehensive pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutritional care coverage to over 300,000 children in a large, rural, multi-state area. Clinical pathology is exceptionally broad and our pediatric gastroenterologists perform the full breadth of procedures of all levels of complexity.
Other requirements include:
MD/DO, Board Certification in Pediatrics/Pediatric Gastroenterology
Minimum 5 years progressive pediatric gastroenterology leadership in an academic setting
Evidence of strong organizational, communication and leadership skills
Physician leadership experience with emphasis on team-building; development of integrated collaborative models of care, education, and research; and managing people and programs.
