Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Director-Revenue Cycle Operations.
In this role, the Assistant Director-Revenue Cycle Operations is responsible for assisting in the overall planning, organization, and direction of the Revenue Cycle Operations Department. Duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Director include, but are not limited to: (1) personnel management, (2) billing and collections management, (3) policies and procedures development, (4) ensuring optimal customer relations, (5) maximizing A/R collections
This position is accountable for the management of the Revenue Cycle Operations department, specific to customer service, managed care and self-pay A/R, vendor management and follow-up.
Ensures that department and vendors are maximizing reimbursement to efficiently lower A/R, and speed up revenue cycle.
Ability to perform 'data mining' and in-depth accounts receivable analysis.
Understands, develops, implements, and analyzes key performance measures for continuous improvement.
Collect/analyze payer data to determine denial and underpayment trends for further review.
Evaluate and escalate eligibility, authorization, billing, and claims processing inaccuracies to implement upstream solutions;
Ensures optimal customer relations
Develops and maintains productivity standards for areas of direct responsibility, and monitors adherence to those standards. Provides coaching and feedback to staff in areas of responsibility, and completes probationary and annual performance appraisals for staff;
Develops/Updates policies and procedures for Revenue Cycle Operations.
May interview prospective employees and make recommendations as to their abilities and the needs of the department. Monitors staff attendance and punctuality on a regular basis, and maintains payroll system for department. Maintains records of staff attendance of all mandatory training sessions.
Counsels employees when performance does not meet standard in an effort to improve the areas of deficiency before disciplinary action is required;
Produce training tools to address performance deficiencies and to explain processes changes;
Finalize deliverables and present findings to internal and external clients;
Represents the Director in meetings if requested;
Adhere to compliance and departmental policies and procedures including compliance with 100% of HIPAA requirements, required trainings, and other Hospital mandated activities;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree in healthcare related field, Accounting/Finance or a related field. Four years of related healthcare experience in implementing and maintaining audit/reimbursement programs, and developing new programs that increase net facility revenues is required along with two to three years of management experience. Thorough understanding of reimbursement systems, and process improvement methodologies. Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. Proactively support quality and performance improvement efforts within the organization and proactively contribute to meeting team goals. . High level of analytical skills and dynamic communication skills (verbal and written) are required. Microsoft Excel and Word familiarity required.
Preferred Qualifications: Ideal candidate will have a masters degree. Preferred candidate will have previous experience in hospital finance. Skilled in data extraction, manipulation and analysis is preferred. Microsoft Products proficiency is a plus.
