Summary Description: The Columbia University College of Dental Medicine invites applications for full time faculty positions, available immediately. We are seeking general dentists who are interested in practicing in an academic setting. Successful candidates will work in collaboration with other clinicians and staff) in our state of the art, patient-centered dental clinic. The primary responsibility for the successful candidate includes the supervision and management of a team of hygienists during the initial intake and recall visits of patients at the College of Dental Medicine. The faculty member will perform clinical examinations, order radiographs, collaborate with and direct the hygienists in assessing treatment needs, refer patients for care within the College of Dental Medicine as needed, and teach and supervise dental students during their intake, urgent care and emergency rotations. S/He must also be able to triage patients and provide urgent and emergency care, again in a teaching clinic with students rotating through the unit The incumbent may be assigned administrative or managerial responsibilities through participation in clinical, educational, and administrative committees, task groups or special projects. Minimum Qualifications: D.M.D. or D.D.S. degree, New York State dental license required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills also a requirement.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous supervisory experience in a clinical setting preferred with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
