Summary Description: The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center seeks to fill multiple clinical faculty positions for clinical psychologists and child and adolescent psychiatrists at the Instructor and Assistant Professor level. For all positions, responsibilities will include a combination of providing direct patient care, including assessment and psychotherapy, and teaching and supervision of psychology and/or psychiatry trainees and medical students.Candidates are sought for placement in the following clinical services:1) For MD's only: (a) Inpatient Consultation/Liaison Service; (b) Pediatric Psychiatry Outpatient Service; and (c) Pediatric Emergency Room: Provide consultation and direct patient care at (a) inpatient medical floors, (b) outpatient clinic, and (c) pediatric ER, respectively. Also will include overnight phone consultation to pediatricians and participation in the cross coverage of other pediatric psychiatry clinical services as needed. 2) Outpatient clinic for anxiety and related disorders (PhD, PsyD)- conducts ADIS-C/P diagnostic/ intake evaluations and individual, family and group psychotherapy utilizing empirically supported treatments with children, adolescents and young adults; provides school evaluations, treatment planning and consultation, and behavioral programming as needed. 3) Learning Disabilities outpatient clinic and research program (PhD, PsyD)- provides neuropsychological evaluations for children and adolescents with learning disabilities and related disorders. 4) School-Based Mental Health program (MD, PhD, PsyD)- provides direct evidenced based/informed clinical care to elementary and middle school children on site at a participating local public school; conducts diagnostic/intake evaluations and individual, family and group psychotherapy with children and their parents; also provides teacher and school consultation, behavioral intervention in the classroom/school and help families navigate the board of education system. 5) Adolescent Day Treatment program (MD, PhD, PsyD)- provides individual psychopharmacology and psychotherapy treatment (DBT, CBT, supportive psychotherapy, and family work) for students experiencing transitional challenges (ages 14-18).6) Special Needs Clinic (MD)- provides psychiatric evaluations, psychopharmacology, and psychotherapy for patients with comorbid psychiatric and chronic medical conditions, including HIV and other illnesses. This family-based clinic serves children, adolescent and adults; liaises with adult and pediatric subspecialty medical providers.MD's will also be responsible for medication management/psychopharmacologic consultation.
Minimum Qualifications: PhD/PsyD degree with New York State license or MD degree with New York State license. If MD, must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. For MD's appointment at the Instructor level requires graduation from a psychiatric residency program. Assistant Professor requires board certification in psychiatry and 2+ years independent clinical experience post residency. For PhD's, appointment at the Instructor level requires license in the State of New York. Assistant Professor requires license in the state of New York and 2+ years independent, post-training, clinical experience. 1) Pediatric outpatient psychiatry, with experience in emergency psychiatry, forensic psychiatry and/or consultation-liaison psychiatry.2) Evaluation and treatment of anxiety and related disorders, with experience in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CB). Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and/or Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) with children, adolescents, and adults; plus experience evaluation and treating children, adolescents, and adults across the anxiety disorders spectrum and in developmental transition.3) Evaluation and treatment of learning disabilities; background in clinical research in learning disabilities preferred. 4) School-based mental health services, with experience in the evaluation and treatment of children in a public school setting. 5) Intensive adolescent day treatment, with experience in using DBT and/or CBT with youth in developmental transition (ages 14-18)6) Evaluation and treatment of HIV-infected and other chronically medically ill children and adolescents.
Preferred Qualifications: Training and/or experience in Psychiatry or subspecialty, clinical psychology, or other relevant fields.
