Employees are an integral part of a community that is proud of its heritage and the accomplishments that make MCPHS University a first-class educational institution.Responsibilities:The Facilities Technician assists in the operations, maintenance and repairs to the University?s buildings and grounds, and is required to spend considerable time on feet and to frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects; must have the ability to lift heavy objects or persons and have physical stamina and endurance. Work is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. The work schedule is 40 hours per week, Mon. - Fri., 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; also on call in the event of an emergency. Complete facilities work and room set-ups initiated by faculty, staff, and students. Troubleshoot, repair and maintain the building systems and facilities as required. Assist with the completion of small scale carpentry-projects. Perform repairs of doors, hardware, and basic locksmith tasks. Light electrical repairs to appliance, fixtures and switches. Light plumbing repairs to water and sewage systems including replacement of fittings and clearing of stoppages. Repair and replacement of glass, tile, screens, locks, drapes. Assist in removal of snow and ice as needed. Assist in small office moves. Carry out preventative maintenance tasks as assigned. Participate in the on-call rotation for emergency situations such as inclement weather or mechanical failures.Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.Qualifications:Required: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED A valid driver?s license Basic knowledge of all building systems (HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical) Basic carpentry skills and working knowledge of building materials, size, and nomenclature Ability to work with hand tools Basic computer skills Demonstrated ability to work with peers Ability to manage and multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines Must be able to communicate and read English, follow verbal and written instruction The ability to occasionally work off-hours and weekendsMCPHS offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits, including a substantial health/dental insurance subsidy, generous holiday/vacation policy, and a significant pension plan contribution.To apply, please visit www.mcphs.edu/careers.
