Job PurposeThe Housing and Residence Life department at Towson University is accepting applications for an Administrative Assistant I to provide front line contact in assisting students/parents with questions regarding available housing and meal plan options and answer questions regarding housing policies and procedures. Assist Assistant Director of Business and Administrative Services with assignments process.
Front line communication with student, parents and general public thru personal contact, phone, fax mail and email. Assist resident students with problems regarding room assignment, room changes, charges on student accounts, repairs, housekeeping and key issues. Assist in management of Card Access system for all residence halls. This includes daily updates, adjustments for early arrival students and students approved to stay after closing and communicating card access issues with the Office of Public Safety. Notify Auxiliary Services to add/delete students from door access system. Maintain and update weekly in RMS Mercury (housing software) weekly occupancy data relating to student room and building changes, cancellations and withdrawals, for different informational needs in offices through-out campus. Maintain emergency evacuation list of residents that need assistance in emergency situations. Receive and file confidential student policy violation records and staff reports. File all miscellaneous student documents in the appropriate folder. Receive and process housing deposits for new and returning students obtaining on campus housing. Prepare checks for daily bank deposit. Assist with fall de-tripling process. Assist with mass mailing for on-campus students and new students/parents several times per year. Approve/deny request for flyers to be displayed in residence halls. Distribute approved flyers to all residence halls. Insure that Residence Assistant (RA) staff are given the appropriate meal plan and meal plans are activated each semester.
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of administrative support experience. Previous office experience, strong knowledge and experience in working in Access/Excel; excellent customer service skills; and interest in helping others. Experience working in a housing office and knowledge of RMS Mercury preferred.
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
