Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School, Department of Medicine – Division of Infectious Disease, is seeking a Budget Analyst II. Under direction, the Budget Analyst II is responsible for assisting in coordinating assigned grant and fiscal activities within the Division of Infectious Diseases and Center for Emerging Pathogens.
Maintains financial records and monitors and facilitates financial transactions.
Ensures expenditures are in accordance with the allocation of funds and individual budgets.
Prepares or assists in preparing working budgets, grant proposals and contracts.
Analyzes fiscal data and prepares invoices and/or reports for grantors or industry sponsors.
Coordinates budgetary functions with Purchasing, Grants, Legal Management, Accounting, Human Resources and other departments.
Oversees payment of salaries and invoices by accounts payable, ensures that accounts have necessary funds, and tracks and follows up payment.
Aids in the preparation of grant proposals, including competitive and non-competitive renewals.
Assists in researching purchase information and submission of purchase requisitions. Ensures compliance with University and federal government project policies and procedures relative to financial transactions.
Submits comprehensive reports, conclusions and recommendations regarding financial matters. Generates expenditures projection and feasibility reports for decision making.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field plus two (2) years of experience in maintenance and review of budgetary and fiscal records.
Extramural grant administration experience required.
Applicants may substitute additional related professional financial experience for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of spreadsheet applications and Microsoft.
Research administration experience (CRA designation) preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to lift or exert force up to ten pounds.
