Job Description Summary Rosalind Franklin University Health Clinics welcome applications for full-time Psychiatrist. The Psychiatrist will provide initial intake for patients into the outpatient Behavioral Health Center; provide ongoing treatment to general outpatient clients and perform medication reviews and management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Responsibilities will include providing evaluation and management services to individuals, families and groups; providing consultation, education and/or referral services. Educational instruction of medical students will be integrated into the practice. Duties include, but are not limited to the development and implementation of individual treatment plans, supervision and training of medical students, and after hours call coverage. The Psychiatrist will serve as a member of an academic multi-disciplinary team with other mental health professionals.
Specific responsibilities will include: Evaluation of patients by interviewing patient, family, and other persons; conducting physical examinations; observing behaviors; reviewing medical history and related documents; selecting, administering, and interpreting psychological tests; ordering laboratory tests and evaluating results.
Development of treatment plans by determining nature and extent of cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral disorders; establishing treatment goals and methodologies.
Treating patients by utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discussing progress toward goals with patients; providing instructions; monitoring effect of medications; supervising staff provision of services.
Maintaining interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress; consulting and collaborating with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, and other health care providers.
Assuring quality and safe service for patients and staff by enforcing policies, procedures, standards, rules, Joint Commission for Accreditation of Health Care Organizations requirements, and legal regulations; participating in utilization reviews; remaining available for emergency consultations.
Improving staff competence by providing training and discussions regarding the interrelationship between psychosocial and physiological problems, psychotropic medications, crisis intervention, and related issues.
Maintaining historical records by documenting symptoms, medications, and treatment events; writing summaries.
Updating job knowledge by participating in continuing medical educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Enhancing department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Required Education & Experience Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopath (DO) degree from an accredited college or university and licensure as a Psychiatrist in the State of Illinois is required. Board Certified or Qualified. Controlled substance license in the State of Illinois is required. Must achieve a background check clearance.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Successful candidates must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills; strong customer service orientation and demonstrated commitment to diversity; must have strong work ethic and high level integrity; is computer literate; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; possess excellent skills in verbal, written, telephone and email communications.
