Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,107-bed Florida Hospital Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. Florida Hospital Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year.
The Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) encompasses all eight of our Florida Hospital campuses in the central Florida area. CVI consists of 25 cardiac catheterization labs that perform diagnostic and interventional procedures at our different FH campuses. These procedures can include: Diagnostic catheterizations, PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention), PVI (peripheral vascular intervention) and EPS (electrophysiology studies) procedures. The campuses also have non-invasive components that include: echo, ekg, stress lab and cardiac rehab. This position is responsible for ensuring the standardization of education and onboarding of our CVI team members in collaboration with our CVI System Non-Invasive educator.

The Cardiovascular (CV) Registry Specialist – RN Lead is responsible for having cardiovascular knowledge comprised of anatomy, percutaneous procedures, surgical procedures and medical diagnoses. This knowledge is used to review medical records and to make inferences about medical care in order to obtain pertinent information that is placed into CV registry databases. The information placed into these registries is used for ongoing performance improvement and research opportunities. The CV Registry Lead is responsible for maintaining knowledge on national cardiovascular registries including the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the Society for Thoracic Surgeons (STS) along with the other internal CV registries. In conjunction with maintaining this knowledge, the CV Registry Lead is also responsible for completing abstraction in order to meet national database submission guidelines. The CV Registry Lead is responsible for maintaining accuracy and productivity standards as determined by the CV Registry Supervisor. Actively contributes to providing outstanding customer service, accepts responsibility for maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. The RN Lead position is responsible for supervising the work of the CV Registry Specialists that are in their reporting structure. This involves training new employees on the registries as well as providing the existing employees with training when registry changes are made on a national level or internally. The position is responsible for reviewing the accuracy and productivity of those employees reporting to them to ensure standards are being met and to act as a content expert to the team. This position is responsible for reviewing and analyzing the monthly quality assurance reports to ensure accuracy of data before sending it to the national registries for submission.

Cardiac Critical Care and/or Intensive Care Unit experience (Preferred)

Bachelor's in Nursing or other healthcare related field (Preferred)
Proficient use of Cerner/I-Extend, Sunport, Tracemaster, Apollo and ORMIS (Preferred)
12-Lead ECG Interpretation (Preferred)
Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Excel (Preferred)
Computer skills utilizing Microsoft Access and building queries (Preferred)
Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) National Database guidelines
ACC National Database guidelines including: PCI, ICD or ACTION(Preferred) Registries (Preferred)
Knowledge of Medical Billing/Coding (Preferred)
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
Current valid State of Florida or multi state license as a Registered Nurse

Responsible for supervision of CV data specialists assigned to their reporting structure. Supervision includes performing quality assurance and productivity checks as determined by CV Registry/Research Manager, answering questions related to inferences about medical diagnosis or procedures performed and providing feedback on performance on a routine basis
Responsible for educating and training new CV Data Specialists assigned to their reporting structure and reviewing national guideline/registry updates with team
Responsible for completing monthly reconciliation reports to ensure all data submitted to national registries is accurate, reflects the care provided and meets deadline as set by each national registry. In completing reconciliation reports, ability to run Access reports independently to check for data discrepancies or omitted data
Responsible for completing annual evaluations, makes recommendations for role model or identifies areas of opportunity that are discussed with CV Registry/Research Manager for appropriate action
Completes longitudinal follow-up, in addition to assigned abstraction, by interviewing and assessing cardiovascular patient health to assist in the publication of Florida Hospital CV Research publications
Accurately obtains pertinent information from the medical record in accordance with criteria set by data dictionaries and by utilizing multiple sources (I-Extend, Sunport, Apollo, etc) to validate clinical information-this includes making inferences about the medical care of the patient in order to complete cardiovascular registry forms
Utilizes ACC National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) to review guidelines and submit questions to ensure accurate abstraction
Maintains accurate list of all patients entered into the CV Registry Databases
Completes appropriate CV registry forms, with some requiring greater than 400 elements per patient and may include multiple forms if numerous procedures were performed
Reviews all pertinent medical information which includes (but not limited to): emergency department records, flight report, history & physical, all consult reports, operative reports, catheterization/EPS reports, perfusion reports, anesthesia reports, medication administration reports, laboratory reports, ultrasound reports, CT/MRI reports, nursing assessments, daily progress notes and outside hospital records if present
While reviewing patient records, identifies quality of care concerns or delays in patient care and promptly relays the information to the CV Registry/Research Manager
Maintains professional work environment that is conducive to achieving accuracy and productivity goals as determined by the CV Registry/Research Manager
Attends educational conferences through the Florida Heart Institute or participates in national registry conferences as appropriate
Adheres to hospital policy for protecting patient confidentiality per HIPPA guidelines
