Minimum Education Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum Experience Requirements
3 years or 4,000 hours experience as a Paramedic provider in 911 ALS or critical care transport, (ground or air) or 4,000 hours of critical care experience in-hospital.
Colorado State Paramedic Certification required and National Registry as a paramedic. Must maintain currency in all certifications required by CAMTS, (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems)
BLS, (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate); PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life
Support Certification) or within 6 months of hire/transfer date.
TPATC (Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course) or ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) within 12 months of hire/transfer date
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) within 12 months of hire/transfer date
FP-C (Certified Flight Paramedic) Within 2 years of hire/transfer date and Valid Driver's License and pass the annual Pre Check review of driving record for safe vehicle operations
Job Responsibilities (essential functions identified with a * )
Assists in providing a safe environment essential to the health and well-being of all individuals in the critical care transport environment, including universal precautions, air and ground safety.*
At the direction of the Flight Nurse, assist in performing a rapid survey of life threatening conditions as well as secondary physical assessment, including medical history, current medications, and allergies.*
In consultation with the Flight Nurse, assists in prioritizing and planning appropriate transport care.*
At the direction of the Flight Nurse, assists in implementing the plan of care and assists with on-going assessments.*
Assists the Flight Nurse and Pilot with education of user agencies and general public regarding Flight For Life/Medical Transport Safety.*
Continues own professional development, including education and membership in professional associations.*
Participates in decontamination of the aircraft and equipment. Helps keep helicopter and fixed wing equipment stocked.*
Participates in Flight For Life CQI processes and program work as outlined in the strategic plan.*
Performs the support duties necessary for the smooth operation of Flight For Life, including cleaning of the vehicles, ordering and stocking of supplies, and clerical support tasks.*
May be required to drive Flight For Life vehicles including ambulances and the Flight For Life Suburban, in support of our ground ambulance operations, relocating vehicles to cover for maintenance, and other program needs.*
