<p>Days/Hours: M-F, 12:00am - 8:30am</p><p>Description of Position<br /><br />Under the direction of a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, contributes to the health and well being of patients by delivering outstanding, high quality veterinary technical services that meet the standards of the MVMA and MAVT as well as VMC standards and protocols. Competently assists LA Clinicians and other medical staff members with veterinary medical procedures which may include (but are not limited to) medical treatments, triage, radiology, surgery and therio prep, anesthesiology, emergency care, laboratory procedures, radiography, IV injections, vaccinations, bandaging, filling prescriptions, animal restraint and handling, etc. within assigned service area as well across functions as needed.<br /><br />Essential Functions<br /><br />• Assists Clinicians, clients and patients with admissions/discharges, assessment, work-up. etc., prepares large animal patients for a variety of veterinary medical procedures including radiographic, surgery, and therio prep, catherizations, venipunctures, vaccinations, foal and colic team assistance, administration of medications and treatments, preparation of pharmaceuticals,etc.<br />• Must be able to restrain and handle large animals and/or assist with large animal restraint and handling.<br />• Under the direction of DVM's, perform vaccinations, IV injections, obtain fluid or tissue samples, perform biopsy techniques, administer medications, obtain fluid or tissue samples, bandaging, triage of medical care, etc.<br />• With oversight by a DVM administers medications, vaccinations, allergy testing and others as defined by the duty clinicians.<br />• Applies clinical job knowledge and competence to the management of the patient.<br />• Maintains isolation protocols.<br />• Barn upkeep and some maintenance.<br />• Delivers outstanding customer service including (for example) greeting and receiving patients and clients in a caring and courteous manner, answering phone calls promptly, responding to clients, co-workers, and medical staff needs and requests, redirecting calls, etc.<br />• Answers questions and explains or demonstrates procedures and equipment for clients, interns, senior veterinary students, and technician students.<br />• Performs record-keeping tasks related to medical procedures, including recording of: procedures completed, supplies used, patient status, client communications, census information, etc.<br />• Responsible to ensure that all services and supplies are charged for according to hospital fee schedule.<br />• Maintains a clean environment in hospital area and ensures that these areas are adequately ordered, stocked and that equipment is in working order<br />• Assists in other LA service areas; develops skills that are cross functional and uses time efficiently.<br />• Must have the ability to work in a clinical setting.<br />• Must be able to work "on call"</p><p>Hourly Salary Range: $15.29 to $21.10 USD/hour</p>
<p><strong>All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.</strong></p><p>Minimum/Required Qualifications:<br />Graduate of Veterinary Technician or equivalent program, certified or certification eligible as an MVMA/MAVT technician.<br /><br />Preferred Qualifications/Selection Criteria:<br />Problem solving skills, strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of veterinary medicine terminology, knowledge of proper restraint and comfort handling large animals. Flexibility to meet patient care needs. Certified technician with certification recognized in Minnesota. Proficient with PC and software.</p>
